My son is assigned to afternoon kindergarten, so instead of going to school with his brother in the morning he will now take the bus home with him.  This also means he has the option of taking the bus to school as well at lunchtime, without his older brother to watch over him.

In his mind, Mom driving him to school is not an option.   He has been insistent all summer about taking the bus, and being that he isn’t much of a “school” kid to begin with, I need all the motivation I can find to get him excited about it.

I’m not sure how easy it will be for him that first day, or first week.   My hope is that he will be as confident about it as he seems to be now and doesn’t start to get nervous or clingy.

But how do I let go and get him on that bus day one?  How do I settle my own nerves over handing my baby over to some stranger to drive him to school and get him there safely?

If you’ve been in this predicament, how did you ease your concern?
