Super Quiet - Powerful Snow Clearing
This is the 2nd season with this machine and i would say it performs well beyond my expectations especially with all the bad press you see here. I bought this a few years back to replace my small Toro CCR "flap" augur that died after 10 years of use. Up until then, i was perfectly happy with the slow, noisy, hard-to-start characteristics of that old model toro. I somehow lost the cord for the Craftman's electric starter but i got it fired up in just 2 pulls, manually. The 4 stroke Briggs and Stratton engine is so quiet, i can use this early morning without waking my neighbors. This machine is amazingly fast. I just cleared about 8" from our latest Chicago storm and it threw it far and fast without a hitch. My driveway is rather long, about 120 feet and i was able to clear that, my sidwalk, and my neighbor's sidewalk in a little over 30 minutes. If anyone has a dying older toro single stage, you'll be in for a great suprise with this model to replace it with.

like a kid with candy
Purchased this snow thrower on 12-14, ready for the big storm hitting, snow thrower tested ready to go. Sunday, crank it up, doesn't quite sound right, like my old Toro. Went about 15 feet, "dead", pully caught, electric start doesn't work either. Did get the 3 year extended warranty, but, it's Sunday can't come out til Tuesday. Hm, Monday haul it back to Sears and get a replacement. Will give it a second chance, have to wait though, no snow.

Get what u pay 4

I owned this blower for about 3 years now. Yes the auger is worn and isn't self propelled anymore and the shute bolts came undone and I needed to replace them twice and it gets clogged a lot but it is an inexpensive blower and works as well as I expected. Better than using a shovel. Remember, you get what you pay for. That's the bottom line.

read this before you buy

as far as clearing the drive it works good but it has a big down fall, it has plastic sides and these sides also act as the runners, they wear down on the concreate which causes the rubber on the auger to wear down till it is not usable, spend the extra money on a single stage with metal sides. if you still want to buy it, make sure you buy the service agreement, you will need it when the sides and the auger need replaced. i have only had mine for 3 years and had it in twice for this problem, i live in cleveland and don't get a lot of snow like some people, i am spending the money this year and buying a single stage with metal sides. with all the money i spent on the unit and service contracts, it would be the same as buying a better sigle stage with metal sides. don't make the same mistake i made, once you find out about the sides and rubber on the auger wearing down, it is to late for the satisfaction guarantee

Snow thrower

Bought it last year(before wintertime) and we had about 2 feet of snow at one time. It worked well, even though I could have used a larger HP thrower, and I would recommend it for usual snow conditions.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Piece of Junk

After one year our snow blower fell apart starting with the handle then the chute. We only used it on light snow on a concrete driveway. We kept in the the garage all year long so it wasn't exposed to any elements. The motot still runs but the blower housing and handle are not repairable.

Only good for light snow

I never buy extended warrenties, thankfully I did with this snowblower. One year of light snow and the whole case was busted. Now this year it has to be rebuilt again. What was I thinking looking at a plastic snowblower? Spend a little more money and get a product with some steel, especially in the auger and case. Unless you like spending the purchase price of the snowblower each year in repairs.

snow blower

I have owned this now for the last 3 years and this year we had more than 70inch of snow fall and this is very great. works extremely fast, light and easy to use and start. It is fast and cuts through snow very quickly and displaces a good distance away.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

poor product

The 22" 5hp snowthrower is built with a plastic auger assembly. Cold and ice do not mix. The auger assembly cracked and the snow failed to come out of the shoot after l year of use. Unacceptable. Now it will cost $100 plus to repair.

Overpriced Junk - 0 Stars

Should come with a snow shovel, you're gonna need one. Works well with the lightest and fluffiest of snow, BUT it struggles with everything else. Chute clogs constantly and the wonderful belt drive loves to slip. Not worth its weight in dirt. I'm not one bit surprised to see its rated here at less than 'Fair'. Wouldn't recommend this product to my worst enemy. Our snowblower is now sitting in the garage in pieces. (me-1, snowblower-0)

works very well, considering

we have a very large driveway, and because our other snowblower was out of commission, i used this and it did an EXTREMELY good job. i mean, considering that this thing looks like it couldn't move an inch, this thing worked VERY VERY well.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Bought it last month and it's already broken. Used twice on concrete driveway and now the auger has dislodged, the handle vibrates, and it has a difficult time starting. Save your money. Do not buy this product. We were able to return it to sears but the cashier seemed angry. She even pointed out that people have been returning this model and they now have so many retruned, they don't know what to do. Watch for a massive clearance on this unit, but even then I wouldn't purchase it. You'll be spending more on repairs than it's worth.
