The Craftsman 4 pc. Ductile Iron C-Clamp Set is a nice little set to hang on my welding cart for my little AC220 welder. I got these clamps to assist me in my additon to my shop. They worked great for holding my joints of c-perlin and to keep my work pieces together, while I welded. They also made a good ground point for my grounding lead of my welder. I use these clamps to also help hold parts, while I weld and repair mower decks and front ends. They are good for helping me hold parts on the work bench, while I am assembling them. Thses also make a great blade stop to help hold the blade stable while removing a mower blade and saves you from having to use your hands. This also helps free up a hand while you remove the blade. But as I said, I sue them mostly on metal work, but do occassionally use them on wood projects. they are pretty tough and have worked on everything that I have needed them to work on. No distortion when you clamp down and and not too bad on the hands. I wipe my set down after use with a WD soaked rag and keep the threads cleaned after use and they worked like I just bought them yesterday. I had a little project to where I was making a tool rack with some old rusted heavy chain and used these clmaps to help hold everything straight while I welded all of the links in place.

What can you say about a clamp? Heck, all it has to do is tighten down on work pieces and stay clamped, right? Well, there is more to clamp quality than that. The castings have to be top quality and have smooth edges. Why smooth edges? Your hands move back and forth over the clamp as you use it and a sharp edge or burr will act like a small scalpel on your hand (don't ask me how I know). Plus the threads and lands have to be precisely cast or machined. If they are not the clamp will loosen as you work. Craftsman clamps are superior, so nicely made you never stop to think about the quality tool you are holding. "Sacramento" Bruce Conklin

I bought this set a few weeks ago to assist me in replacing the brakes on the wife's minivan. I used the clamps to compress the pistons in the calipers making the job so much easier and faster than trying to push them in with the handle of a hammer!
