Craftsman digital multimeter with manual ranging. Features non-contact voltage measurement from 100 to 600 VAC. Measures AC/DC voltage with 0.5 percent basic accuracy. Also measure AC/DC current, resistance, diode and continuity. Display is a backlit, extra large 2000 count LCD screen. Also features battery test with load, auto off/on, fuse protection, tilt stand, molded rubber holster and test leads. Category III - 600 volt.

Just got this one after my 3 year old pen type 82354 started giving trouble. This meter works great. So far seems to be very durable, large display. The 10M ohms input impedance for both AC an DC was the key reason I chose this one. Ideal for automotive. NCV I hardly use and it could do with a wider ACV range. Still fulfills all it's duties. By the way, I opened my 82354 and cleaned out the dust and it works like new..... So now I have 2 great economical multi meters.

This is the second Craftsman multimeter I've purchased, tested, and returned in three days. Both meters had the same problems: 1. The 200 ohm resistance scale is poorly calibrated. Resistance fluctuates between 0.3 and 1.6 ohms when shorting probe tips together. 2. When shorting probe tips together during continuity test the meter's piezo buzzer was under powered and scratchy.

This Craftsman Multimeter is just one item within an array of Craftsman testing devices I received as a gift on my birthday, Oct. 6, 2009 (just in case people are taking notes here). Although I'm not a professional electrician, this device is easy to read and understand. I use a multimeter often when I'm working with voltage appliances that relate to my full time trade as a plumber. I like the digital read-out as opposed to my old GB multimeter's analog display. I also like how the case is enclosed in a rubber material to help protect the instrument from impact. I've not dropped it so far, but expect that it will do the job to the degree intended. This Craftsman multimeter is a bargain compared to the cash needed to purchase other high-end brands that are popular with Pro Electricians. I now own a fine Craftsman Digital Multimeter with all the accuracy I'll ever need and with enough functions to keep me challenged for a long long time!

I am a diesel tech student at a college, I bought this because it does everything and more than I need it to do, and it was on sale for $19 The other students at school gave me a hard time because it wasn't a Fluke, Snap-on, CAT, or Cornwell meter. It does everything I need it to and I have another $100 in my pocket to spend on other tools etc. Plus a couple of years of warranty came with it.
