After reading other reviews, I decided to go with this cab knowing full well that I would have to do some modifications to it to meet my expectations. So I haven't run into anything that wasn't expected. The frame and cover both seem reasonably well made for the money and everything went together as described in the owner's manual. It was a pretty easy assembly. I wanted to get it in and put together while it was still warm so I could decide on and make the modifications that I was pretty sure that I was going to want. I think that was a good decision.
As expected after reading other reviews, it is virtually impossible to use the manual PTO clutch on my YTS 3000 with the front support in place as designed. That wasn't a huge deal to alter but this cab and the manual clutch tractors have both been out long enough for some genius to figure out that there is a design problem and FIX IT ! ! ! But they haven't. It shouldn't take much more than a few different bends in the front support and a little extension in their length if they wanted to be cheap about it. And they could get another star or two from me and others like me. Personally, I came up with something a little more substantial than that. But I'm not being aggravated with having to move the support every time I need to engage or disengage the manual PTO.
Secondly, while a 3 sided cab is better than no cab and does help substantially, I wanted to add a back side to the cab so as to keep the wind and blowing rain and snow off of MY back side. Some tent canvas, ssome heavy clear vinyl, a little sewing, and some velcro to make it look like it came from the factory made that happen easy enough. My back is removable and I find that I only use it during the coldest and windiest of conditions.
I also used some tent canvas and velcro to make an easy on and off cover for the snowblower control port on the left side so I can keep the wind and precip from coming in it when I'm using other attachments and that port isn't being used. A little velcro added to the hand port flaps on both sides keeps them from flying up and letting cold wind and precip in during high winds, too. Yet they're available as needed.
I haven't gotten around to it yet but I still plan to rig some canvas ductwork to funnel engine block heat from the engine's side hood heat exhausts to inside the cab at the openings at the front of the footrests. Engine heat already seems to come in them to some extent without the planned ductwork. But I want to keep rain, snow, and wind out of those holes as well as funnel wasted engine heat in. I've seen this done with other cab designs so I see no reason it can't work with this one. I think this simple modification should contribute to drier feet and a warmer me. And that's a good thing. Especially when using a snowblower.
Overall, I think this cab is a good investment for the money. Just don't expect perfection for this price. I didn't. But so far I'm still happy. It was one of the first cold and rainy days of the fall season when I finished putting it together. So I just had to ride around the property and check it out. I was pleased. I stayed warm and dry. Since then, I've used it on the lawnmower while working the property during the fall to keep rain and wind off of me. And I've used it for around 20 hours (so far) with both the Craftsman 42" Snow Blade and the 42" Snowthrower Attachment. I've been out clearing snow in temperatures as low as 9 degrees with winds blowing at 20 mph or more. I couldn't (or wouldn't) have done that without the cab. I don't consider this cab to be an option when clearing snow. I consider it to be a requirement. That's expecially true when using a snowblower. I'm glad Craftsman made this cab available.
Very disappointed.

Does not wrap around entire way. Your back is completely exposed. The height of it want to spring out in front under hood, yet the unadjustable straps on sides were falling off because it was too low. Poorly designed as a 'Universal' cover.

I bought this cab to go with my new Craftsman Tractor Model 288515. The initial issue I found was that the elastic hooks that are to secure the cab sides are too long and do not secure the sides. The major flaw I discovered was that when I went to engage my snow thrower the clutch arm on the tractor hits the front support rod of the cab preventing the clutch arm from locking in place. I called Sears technical support and they confirmed that this was a major design flaw. Sears needs to redesign the cab to properly fit their new tractors. I will be returning the cab unit for a refund. Extremely disappointed.

could have been packaged better! Has some minor creases that will definitley crack befor long. Front support rods are tack welded together with 2 tack welds and one was broke in the box, luckey enough I am a welder. the support rods just rest on the plastic dash, does not seem good to me considering the bouncing that will occur and you know how well plastic does not like stuff banging against it,especially in the cold.I guess engineers don't get paid enough to figure out a receiving bracket for the support rods!

To remove winkles from the plastic window: place it in your clothes dryer on low heat for a couple of minutes. Stand by; you will need to remove it quickly after a minute or two. Immediately lay it flat to cool. Winkles will be all gone!

I live in northern Idaho and purchased this cab for my DGT6000 with the Craftsman 2-stage snowblower about two months ago. Overall I am happy with the device, and it's really nice not having the snow from the snowblower cover you when clearing the driveway. The tube frame is relatively stout and it installed on my tractor easily and fits well, like it was made for my specific model. The DGT6000 is a large tractor (for Sears) and I can see how it would feel bulky and not fit well on some of the smaller ones. So far, the lack of a back cover does not really bother me. There are a couple of things that need to be resolved however. The front support is cheesy and should be something more in line with the rest of the frame design. The elastic clips on the bottom seem a little weak, but so far they do hold. The two things that really bother me though are that the cab roof canvas is loose so it has a tendency to make a small shelf that holds snow and water (read ice) if left outside. Also, the clear vinyl has always been very wrinkled and is now cracking along the lines of the wrinkles (after only 2 months) so that is an issue I hope to have resolved. Will return and let you know if it is.

Easy to put together. It did not strap tight to the mower. Had to strap it under the mower to the frame. Had to strap the back two straps together behind the seat. Front mounting rod gets in the way of engaging the unit. Hard to see out the wrinkles in the plastic.

This cab is a good idea, but the way it was put together lacks thought. Sears could have made a much better product. The hooks on the bottom do not stay fastened, the cab has no back, and they were cheap with the hardware. They did not supply bolts for where the brakets attach, you need to use the original spring bolts which are too short. This took most of the time for the assembly. I needed to buy longer bolts that would actually work. Once I bought the correct sized bolts everything went pretty easy as far as assembly is concerned. They also did not package the required adhesive pads, the front support rod is flimsy and was not properly spot welded. The cab itself is good quality vinyl, but the clear part is a little blurry with some wrinkling making it diffucult to see out of. I just installed this product and have not used it in a storm yet, but from what i already see I am somewhat dissapointed. Sears was cheap with the little things on this one!! and needs to make the necessary modifications. I was tempted to give a below average mark but the quality of the vinyl is what made me go with average. I hope it makes through the winter...........

I like mine. I put it on in October and use it late fall and early spring. Its too expensive. The plastic windows are tricky to. When I open it up in the fall, the wrickles are there to stay. But I use it for clean up late in the fall and just after the winter so just having it there to block the wind is nice.

The Craftsman Lawn Tractor cab is all that it was said to be. I ordered the cab through my local Sears store. I am a person who likes to save money by doing things for myself. When the cab arrived, I imediately spread the parts out on the garage floor beside my lawntractor. I read the instructions which said to put it together in the steps as they were listed. From the start to finish, everything went together perfectly in about 45 minutes. I used the cab all winter without a problem. Being a person who likes to try to make things better, I made a back window to help stop the wind from coming in the back of the cab. The back of the cab was left open to avoid carbonmonoxide poisoning, but my window has enough air leaks to allow plenty of ventilation. The only "con" that I have is the way the soft cover was packaged. It was wadded up so the clear plastic windows are all permanetly wrinkled which makes it hard to see.

Excellent buy, would purchase again! I should have bought it 2 yrs ago when I purchased my lawn tractor! It fit on my Husqvarna with hardly no problems. This cab does exactly what it's supposed to do. It keeps the snow off of my face and keeps my legs dry. It cuts the wind down as well. If your expecting more, then spend the money and buy the Briggs and Stratton cab for alot more $. I've had this cab for 2 months and have used it over 8 hrs. various wind/snow conditions. The canvas cab that draps over the tubular frame is made of a strong material and the clear plastic also seems tough enough to last 5+ Winters if I'm careful with it, i.e. stay away from those branches hanging down, etc. It does have some wrinkles but I hardly notice them when blowing snow. It is a little tricky to get into and using the controls took awhile to get used to but after an hr, I realized I hadn't felt a bit of snow on my face or legs! Extremely pleased and would buy again!!
