Dante's Inferno
In EA's Dante's Inferno, players assume the role of Dante, who descends into Hell after returning home to find his beloved Beatrice murdered, with Lucifer seducing her soul into the underworld. Dante sets out to save Beatrice, but he soon realizes he is also in Hell to face his own demons and ultimately to redeem himself. Players will take Dante through nine unique circles of Hell as mapped out and described by Alighieri: limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. Each circle will showcase its own distinct look, with demons, monsters, damned and geography that are crafted straight from the poem's vivid descriptions. To take down the demons of Hell, Dante is outfitted with two primary weapons: the Scythe he takes from Death and the Holy Cross given to him by Beatrice, which has spiritual powers that will help Dante collect souls and spells from the creatures he defeats on his journey. If successful, Dante will be able to tame certain beasts, exacting their will and turning Hell's punishments back on it.

similar to god of war, you pretty much play a character who kills his way through the levels with different weapons and powers (you can allocate these skills with points you receive) it's average but fun although fairly short.
Dante's Inferno is a good action game, not the best this console generation has to offer, but still it manages to deliver fun and entertainment. As with similar action games, this one is short and after beating the game, I could not wait to play it again to collect some more trophies. The best aspect about this title is the atmosphere, grotesque enemies, and eerie soundtrack; before I played the game, I saw several complaints regarding that the game loses its steam towards the end, but personally I enjoyed all 9 circles of hell and the final boss battle.
On the other hand and perhaps the biggest downside of this game is the actual game-play, because anyone who has played any of the God of War games will realize that several basic mechanics are strikingly similar. From one of the bonus videos on the Divine Edition, it may be clear that Visceral Games will do a sequel inspired on Dante Alighieri's Purgatorio. If there is a sequel I hope it will be a little more polished and original than its predecessor.
