Garden Oasis Curved Pergola*

We had an awful experience dealing with this product and returned it after 3 months.  Warning!  Do not buy it.  Rain pools in the top and pulls down the canopy between the bars and the material weakens. The pole weights do not do any good--we tried even adding some weight room weights onto the pole.  It was all an exercise in futility.  I spoke with the company--they've heard it all before and they were nice.  We did buy their window gazebo and are so far very satisfied with that.  Water gets down into the posts and rust pours out of them.   This product should be pulled from the marketplace entirely.  Now if you live in a desert where you get no rain--well MAYBE you would like it!    

Although it took some effort to put up, it was been exactly what I have been looking for. It is attractive and functional. I have received several compliments on it.

Just bought the pergola last night online after it went on sale at $269. Picked it up at the Crystal Lake, IL store this morning. When I got it home and unpacked it, I discivered that the box was missing just about everything. No hardware (not a single nut or bolt), didn't have the canopy, and was even missing the instructions. Returned it and got another one that had everything. When I finish building the second one I will update my review. But as of now it's a 1 star, if that.

After seeing this in an ad, we could only find it at one of Sear's outlets. It was described as "new in box". After waiting for 3 weeks and phone calls to Sears and the shipper, it arrived, only to find it badly damaged. The shipping was equal in cost to the price of the pergola. We had to call the manufacturer and the replacements for the damaged parts, which were under warranty, will be shipped and get here in another 3 weeks. I am very disappointed in this whole transaction and we haven't even got it assembled yet, so I can't say how that process is! I have paid for an item that I won't be able to even use for at least 6 weeks.

alas! we can use our $15,000 piano-shaped paver patio again! thanks to the garden oasis curved pergola (for ~$300) the patio area is stylish, shaded & 20 degrees cooler. no michigan summer day can dish-up conditions to discourage us from hanging-out in the pergola. we're having our morning cafe & early afternoon lunches right on the patio no matter how warm & sunny it is! my bride & i assembled the pergola in just a couple of hours.

attention buyers! i used & recommend anchoring the pergola posts (n=4) to 16" circular patio blocks for increased stability on a flat, firm surface i.e., cement or paver blocks. i do not recommend using the included-grass stakes for lawn installation (virtually no stability whatsoever). also, don't expect the pergola to protect you from the rain. it's primary function is to shade & cool the area only. if you're looking for rain protection, opt for a gazebo.

We bought this June 2nd.  July 11th we had a storm and the legs broke off of it. I would not recommend this item. The metal is very flimsy and high winds will be this pergolas demise. Even if you cement this thing into the ground, the legs will still bend and collapse. We were able to return the pile of twisted metal and get a store credit from Sears. We purchased a basic umbrella for the table.

The main selling point was the size.  Most pergolas/canopies are 10x10 and our balcony is only 9 feet wide.  Took my husband and I about 2 hours to put together.  Thanks to some special bike tools (heavier duty allen wrenches-T handle) and some lubricant we were able to "encourage" the stubborn screws to find their way and it helped the process move quicker.  Appears sturdy as we have it up against the iron fence that surrounds the balcony.  That area does not get much wind so we will probably not have some of the same issues as others.  We got it to combat the western sun here in So. Cal.  Love the adjustability of the canopy to deal with the shifting sunlight.

Pass on this if you experience any wind at all. This model lacks supports between the four support posts and the upper frame. I just saw one at ***** that had the supports that this one should have. "right angle" supports are needed. Now I'm online looking for DIY supports. Wish I would have purchased the one at *****.

During our first summer in our house last year, we realized that the backyard gets full sun *all day*. Wisconsin can get pretty toasty in the summer, and the market umbrella that we purchased was not cutting it. Aside from not offering a large enough area of shade and constantly having to reposition it, the slightest breeze would topple it over and send our dogs fleeing to not get hit.

We began looking at the metal framed and canopied square gazebos that seem to be easy to find at most stores once the patio furniture comes out for the season. Due to the configuration of our deck, we were unable to find a structure that would not obstruct deck access and also fit our patio furniture under it.

We were exceptionally pleased to find the Curved Pergola because at 8'x10' it would fit perfectly on our deck without obstructing anything, and our furniture fit perfectly under it. We picked up the pergola in store at our local Sears, and were able to get the (long but narrow) box into our Honda Civic with the back seats folded down. My husband and I put it together in just under 2 hours. A third set of hands would have been nice, but aren't necessary.

The canopy is great for keeping the deck shady and substantially cooler than the areas not in the shade, and the adjustability of the canopy is great. We have bolted the pergola to the deck and have found it to be very sturdy in the wind. The canopy is very easy to take down in about 1 minute if there is severe weather, and it is pretty easy to put back up, even for one person. As others have mentioned, the fabric is essentially waterproof, but the pergola itself does not provide much protection from rain unless it is fairly soft and coming straight down. Water does pool on the canopy, but we have not found this to be much of an issue at all. We are hopeful that it will withstand a Wisconsin winter, as the metal frame will be left up all year. We have been very pleased with our purchase and would certainly recommend it!
