I bought the system for a 14 year old as a Christmas present. I also bought baseball 2010 as a game for him to play on the PS3.
After he opened the gift and the game, we could not get the PS3 to work. It was gray scale, no color at all and the picture was grainy. I tried to hook it up to numerous ports on the back of a HDTV, including using an HDMI cable. Nothing worked.
I returned the system to Sears and was promptly refunded the purchase price of the console. However, I was not permitted to return the game because it was open.
My concern is this, how can you give a game to a 14 year old for use in the PS3 and not open it? That was the first thing he put into the machine.
I am a Sears associate and I understand the policy. However, I DO NOT agree with the policy. People are trying to make their money stretch even farther now than ever before. The policy of not returning an open game for a refund is not in the best interest of the customer. It was not my fault, the child's fault or even Sears fault the console did not work. The game is in flawless condition and could easily be resold.
If you truly have the interest of the customer at heart and you are trying to drive and expand your customer base, you need to re-evaluate this policy. It is not customer friendly.
I will not purchase any electronic equipment from Sears until this policy changes.

I have gotten a PS3 for Christmas in 2011 and have been very pleased with it. I have always been in the PlayStation family and have had every one. The online gameplay is free, cheaper than getting an Xbox with as much gigabytes as this, and the controllers are nice in the hand, where Xbox is larger. The Xbox gets the red ring of death and whenever you move the console with the game in it it frequently causes it to make a huge circle scratch in the middle of the disk. the only bad thing is Play station network gets really slow when you look at messages from then PlayStation home button during a match in Call of Duty or anything like. If i have time i commonly play it for as much as 13 hours if there's nothing to do. All it does is overheat just a little bit and it gets a little bit warm. Otherwise no problems. It seems to me that it works faster if you have it on a flat solid surface so it has air to ventilate through it.

The playstation 3 is a very outstanding gaming system. It does about anything you want in a gaming system. From surfing on the web to watching blu-rays and nexflix. I would highly recommend it.
